Ukraine-Russia War Update: Kyiv Successfully Intercepts Russian Drone and Missile Assault
In the latest developments of the Ukraine-Russia war, Ukrainian air defenses successfully intercepted a massive drone and missile assault launched by Russian forces in the early hours of Thursday. According to the Ukrainian air force, all 23 drones and five out of six missiles fired by Vladimir Putin’s forces were shot down.
Khmelnytskyi regional governor Serhii Tiurin reported that air defenses neutralized nine aerial targets over his region. He added that there have been no reports of casualties or property damage. In the southern region of Mykolaiv, Governor Vitaliy Kim confirmed that the military destroyed six drones and three cruise missiles.
Simultaneously, the Russian navy missile cruiser Varyag conducted drills in the Mediterranean Sea, as reported by the state-owned TASS news agency. The navy command stated that the exercises focused on repelling a mass sea drone attack and included simulated engagements with an enemy vessel and a submarine.
Earlier this month, a Russian naval frigate performed drills in the Atlantic Ocean, searching for submarines while en route to Cuba. These activities underscore the ongoing military tensions and strategic maneuvers by both nations amidst the protracted conflict.
