IPL 2024 Highlights: SRH Triumphs Over RCB with a 25-Run Victory in a High-Scoring Extravaganza
In a spectacular display of batting, SRH outpaced RCB by 25 runs in a monumental high-scoring game, setting a new IPL record with a score of 287/3. Travis Head was the standout performer, blasting 102 from just 41 balls, and his explosive partnership with Abhishek Sharma, which amassed 108 runs in under 50 balls, set the tone early. After Sharma’s dismissal for 34, Heinrich Klaasen kept up the assault with a rapid 67 off 31 balls, and Abdul Samad’s quickfire 37 not out from 10 balls propelled SRH to surpass their previous highest IPL score of 277.
RCB responded robustly in their chase of the daunting 288-run target, achieving a strong start and matching SRH’s intensity during the powerplay with 79 runs. Contributions from Virat Kohli (42 off 20), Faf du Plessis (62 off 28), and a vigorous 83 off 35 by Dinesh Karthik brought RCB close to their highest ever IPL total. Ultimately, they fell short, finishing at 262/7, just a single run shy of their record total of 263/5 set against Pune Warriors in 2013, when Chris Gayle famously scored an unbeaten 175. Despite their efforts and notching one of their highest scores, RCB could not overtake SRH’s massive total, concluding the game 25 runs adrift.
